I am very fond and proud of Thai silk, and I am fascinated by how they make all the patterns.   We have to thank to our ancestors' calibre for inventing such wonderful thing to our beloved country.  I collected many different designs and my idea is : It would be nice to transform all the thai silk patterns I have on Saa paper.  Mrs.Dale Scibelli U.S.A. now owns this painting.

"DAY LILIES" - บัวบก

My inspiration on this painting was the shape and colour of the flower itself and also the atmostphere when I saw the flowers which grasped my attention while I went to a temple in Chiangrai, I met an elderly nun sitting in the temple offering bundles of day lilies including incense sticks and small candles to visitors who wanted to pray worship to the Lord Bhudda's image in the temple.  I said to myself : I am going to paint these flowers in a vase, it would be nice, and will remind me of something happening here.  The painting was exhibited at Neilson Hays Library in June 1998.  A gentleman from Japan bought this picture, Dr. Kobayashi Yoshinari.

This painting was produced in April 1998 while I was preparing for my exhibition at Neilson Hays Library scheduled for June 1998.I was very impressed by the building (The Rotunda Gallery) which was built nearly 130 years ago.The style and also the history of how it was built, and why it was built interest me a lot.  Therefore,I must do somthing in return to the library.I donated this painting to the library and I presented it to Mrs. Mary Lou Herron who accepted it on behalf of the library.

THIS PAINTING WAS PUBLISGED IN THAILAND TATLER FOR JUNE 1998 EDITION
